Project Overview
The Suzhou Free Trade Business Center is located in the core gateway area of Yangcheng Yinzuo in Suzhou Industrial Park and is undertaken by Shanghai Construction Group. As a large‑scale TOD project with a total gross floor area of 460,000 m², it comprises a 180m tower and a 220m tower. Upon completion, it will become the signature gateway landmark of the Suzhou Free Trade Zone and the third‑tallest building in Suzhou Industrial Park. GETO provided advanced intelligent climbing scaffold systems and related digital construction technologies to help Shanghai Construction Group build this landmark.

Project Characteristics
- Super high‑rise irregular cantilever structures – Both the 220m tower and three auxiliary buildings feature irregular cantilever structures. The façade adopts layered concave‑convex geometries, creating complex interfaces. Each floor has a different cantilever configuration, imposing extreme demands on scaffold attachment, deformation adaptability and safety control.
- Tallest climbing scaffold application in East China – The standard floor height reaches 4.5 metres. The core wall and perimeter columns are constructed simultaneously. The climbing scaffold must operate stably under super high‑rise and large floor‑height conditions, making it the most technically challenging in the region.
- Coordination between multi‑curvature curtain wall units and climbing scaffold – The façade curvature varies significantly. The curtain wall units and climbing scaffold must achieve millimetre‑level fit to avoid interference and ensure installation precision and scaffold safety.
- High construction risks and strict precision requirements – Super high‑rise irregular buildings demand high predictability and risk control, which conventional methods cannot provide.

GETO Solution
- Parametric design + 3D dynamic simulation technology – GETO innovatively applied parametric design models to carry out 3D visual construction simulations. In the early stage, this supported special scheme论证. Visual design briefings enabled the construction team to understand the entire process in advance, predict potential problems, and take preventive measures, improving efficiency and reducing risks.
- Customised attachment system for irregular façades – To address the unique cantilever configuration on every floor, the design team developed a dedicated irregular attachment system, successfully solving the coordination challenge between the irregular curtain wall and the climbing scaffold, enabling reliable anchorage and smooth climbing on the complex curved façade.
- Millimetre‑level fit solution – Through precise modelling and repeated simulation, a millimetre‑level fit between the multi‑curvature curtain wall units and the climbing scaffold was achieved, ensuring no interference during construction.
- IoT‑based intelligent monitoring system – An IoT‑based intelligent monitoring system was deployed to track scaffold attitude, load, wind pressure, etc., in real time, achieving a risk warning accuracy of over 95% and improving standard floor construction efficiency by 30%.
- Simultaneous core wall construction technology – Under the 4.5m standard floor height, simultaneous construction of the core wall and perimeter columns was realised, optimising the construction sequence and shortening the overall schedule.

Project Value
- Technical records and new paradigm – As the tallest climbing scaffold application in East China, the project set multiple technical records: simultaneous core wall construction under 4.5m floor height, millimetre‑level fit between multi‑curvature curtain walls and climbing scaffold, and an IoT‑based intelligent monitoring system. These innovations provide a new paradigm for super high‑rise irregular building construction in China.
- Enhanced efficiency and safety – Parametric design and 3D dynamic simulation raised risk warning accuracy to over 95% and increased standard floor construction efficiency by 30%, significantly reducing high‑altitude risks.
- Landmark significance – The project will become the signature gateway landmark of the Suzhou Free Trade Zone and the third‑tallest building in Suzhou Industrial Park. With its leading climbing scaffold technology and digital construction capabilities, GETO helped Shanghai Construction Group create this urban icon, further consolidating its leadership in super high‑rise irregular building formwork and scaffold solutions.
