Project Location: Jiangxi, China
Project Type: Bridge construction
GETO Product: Aluminium formwork system
Project Overview
The Jiangxi Lovers' Bridge project is a case study of GETO’s aluminium formwork system applied to bridge structure construction.

Project Characteristics
The bridge features Y-shaped piers with curved geometry, combined with ultra-large variable cross-sections. Compared with conventional vertical piers, this type of pier is more complex in terms of geometric form, formwork loading, assembly, and concrete finishing. The Y-shaped piers require the formwork to maintain geometric continuity at the bifurcation point. The curved sections demand that the formwork panels and backing ribs accurately conform to the curved surface. The ultra-large variable cross-sections require the formwork system to maintain stable connections and reliable support at different heights or cross-sectional positions.
In conventional bridge pier construction, steel formwork is often used. However, steel formwork is heavy and highly dependent on on-site hoisting equipment, which can increase installation and turnaround pressure for irregular pier construction. For this project, the formwork system needed to balance structural rigidity, lightweight installation, forming quality, and construction efficiency.
GETO Solution
GETO provided an aluminium formwork system for pier construction on this project. This was GETO’s “first project using aluminium formwork for bridge piers”, replacing conventional steel formwork for the construction of Y-shaped curved piers and ultra-large variable-cross-section piers.
The core value of the aluminium formwork solution lies in reducing on-site installation difficulty through lighter formwork components, while using customised formwork design to fit the curved surfaces and variable sections of the piers. This solution is well suited for bridge structural parts where reducing dependence on mechanical hoisting, improving manual handling convenience, and ensuring high-quality concrete finish for irregular shapes are key requirements.

Project Value
The Jiangxi Lovers' Bridge project demonstrates the expanded application of GETO’s aluminium formwork system from building structures to irregular bridge structures. This case is not a conventional residential standard-floor aluminium formwork application, but rather the use of aluminium formwork for Y-shaped curved piers and ultra-large variable-cross-section piers. It is suitable for showcasing GETO’s exploration and capability in special bridge components, custom formwork detailing for irregular shapes, and lightweight construction solutions.
