Temporary Water-Retaining Enclosure for Deep-Water Bridge Foundation Construction
A cofferdam is a temporary water-retaining enclosure built around the construction area of a bridge's deep-water foundation. By forming a closed water-retaining structure and pumping out the water inside, it creates dry working conditions for underwater foundation work such as pile caps and pier columns. Cofferdams are mainly classified by material into steel cofferdams, steel sheet pile cofferdams, etc. Steel cofferdams, with high structural strength and excellent waterproof performance, are widely used in deep-water foundation construction of bridges.
